Bucket List for Teens: Part Three

The girls are aggressively attacking their bucket list with only two weeks to go.  Next Up.....

Driving with Miss Julia.

Her accomplices were again Miss Savage and Lizzy.

Their vehicle of choice was our Santa Fe. I cannot believe they did not take the station wagon!

Lizzy showed incredible faith in Julia's ability to drive. But she hung in there for the whole lesson.

And wouldn't you know it, Julia managed to park the car between the yellow lines on the first try!

What's next?  Your guess is as good as mine.

Brotherhood of the Travelling Hat

Okay.... this one should make you laugh! My nephew has decided that he and I should have matching hats. The idea being that we would wear the hats in pictures. Me in our travels and he in family get togethers, just a way of showing we are thinking about family on such occasions. Anyway, yesterday was a big family event. We walk the prostate cancer 5K walk in honor of my brother John who passed away from prostate cancer on November 23, 2011. The entire family, neighbors and friends show to raise awareness and support to help find a cure. Yesterday, there were almost 75 Team McLaverty members joining together.

Here you see Liz and Julia as they walk the 5K course.

Family pride is very evident.

NOW... for the moment you have been waiting for.... THE HATS!
These hats will be hard to miss! Keep your eyes open for them in future posts.

Lizzy's Graduation Party

Okay.... so our adorable little girl has grown uo to be a beautiful young lady. We celebrated her high school graduation one week early. And after inviting our entire families and Lizzy posting an open invite to all her facebook friends, EVERYBODY showed up!
The weather was wonderful. The food was outrageous and overly abundant. By days end, we had about 175 people stop by to celebrate with us. This truly was our "last bash" before leaving for Kenya.
Just wondering...... how many will show up at Julia's party at RVA?

Blessing List - Part One

We are truly blessed to have two wonderful daughters! Last Sunday they gave us a great gift by being baptized together. They wanted to do it before we left for Africa and they split up for the first time. When asked who will be baptizing them, they simply answered "daddy will". What a blessing!
They both gave powerful testimonies and Steve only lost control of his emotions a couple of times.

Julia reading her testimony with dad's supervision.

Lizzy giving her testimony and challenging our church family to hold us accountable .

                                                                Best Hug EVER!

We hope all who attended the service this past Sunday were as blessed  and challenged as we all were by the testimonies of faith that were shared..

Home Team Goodbye Party

We must be getting awfully close to departure! On Saturday June 2nd, our home team and our small group (many who are both) held a going away party for our family. Most had worked all day at Davisville Church's Fun Day outreach for children who are less able. They showed up tired, sunburnt and ready to relax.

Through a set of uncontrollable circumstances, the party was held at our house! It makes sense as we are getting the house a bit emptier each day. The Allen's brought the big Green Egg to cook with and Mark spent most of his time tending to the egg.

A great time was had by all. The storms held off and all had a relaxing day, Especially Dale who thought he was at a Brazilian Steakhouse!

We are very blessed by our friends who have helped carry us through this process. Thank you for all you do. We could not do this without you.
